In 2020 Elap and Tripod Mobility joined forces to form a new British company, Volta Mobility Limited.
Elap was incorporated in the 1970’s and was the first company in the world to develop and patent the Rotating Car Seat concept. Ever since, Elap has become a highly recognisable name in the mobility sector and one of Motability’s premier partners. Elap are the sole distributor for BraunAbility and Kivi products for the UK, whilst also specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of mobility products. Today Elap is still based in Accrington, Lancashire where the company has developed a network of over 100 accredited adaptation partners throughout the UK and Ireland.
Tripod Mobility was established back in 1980. Since opening their doors, Tripod has become a pioneer and world leader in the wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) sector with high regards around the world for their designs of WAV products. Over the years the Dutch company has gained international recognition as a vast innovator of WAV’s. Today Tripod has agents in 5 different continents, with many dealers surrounding.
Both Elap and Tripod Mobility are, in their own fields, specialists and leaders in the accessibility market. The long history of both companies gives us almost 90 years of combined knowledge and experience to bring to Volta Mobility.
